Central Coast Water Savings Fund

Program summary

The Central Coast Water Savings Fund supports projects which will save or recycle water in the Gosford Wyong Councils Water Authority area, including projects which will:.

  • save potable water in areas supplied with reticulated water by Gosford Wyong Councils Water Authority
  • significantly contribute to an overall system wide reduction in demand of 32% expected under Level 4 Water Restrictions.

Round 3 closed on 13 June, 2008.

Who can apply?

Applications are open to any business, local council, state government agency, organisation or community group implementing projects which will save potable water in Gosford Wyong Councils Water Authority area of operations. All applicants must be legally constituted entities and must be able to demonstrate their capacity to deliver.

Central Coast businesses required by the councils to prepare and submit a Water Management Plan are encouraged to apply to the Water Savings Fund to implement actions identified.

What will be funded?

Preference is given to projects which:

  • maximise immediate savings in potable water

  • lead to additional broader and long term water savings by helping to transform behaviour and practices

  • maximise the leverage of the Fund through applicants' contributions and collaborative delivery of solutions

  • deliver savings across a wide range of sectors

  • adopt a mix of approaches

  • implement a wide range of activities

What will NOT be funded?

Funding will not be provided for:

  • activities which it is reasonable to expect would occur without assistance of the Fund

  • projects which are research and development only

  • projects directly implementing regulatory requirements such as BASIX (Building Sustinability Index) or preparation of Water Management Plans

Current priorities
The priorities for Round 3 are projects which:
  • deliver immediate savings, including implementing actions identified by high water users in Water Management Plans, and/or

  • recycle water or harvest stormwater.

How much funding is available?
$2 million a year
