Funder: Sisters of Charity Foundation

Program summary

The Sisters of Charity Foundation and Sisters of Charity Ministry Fund are primarily concerned with funding projects/programs that respond to the needs of the poor and under-served in today's community.

It is the aim of those funds to financially support initiatives of benefit to the general community, particularly for people with special needs, and where such support is inadequately funded from other sources.

The projects/programs funded will focus on the alleviation of the poverty, loneliness, suffering, ignorance and oppression.

The closing date for the next funding round is 1 February 2008.

Who can apply?

For taxation purposes it has been necessary to set up two funds, namely:

  • Sisters of Charity Foundation
  • Sisters of Charity Ministry Fund

The Sisters of Charity Foundation

The Sisters of Charity Foundation provides money, property or benefits to funds, authorities or institutions that comply with Subdivision 30B of the Income Tax Assessment Act 1997, ie. to entities which themselves enjoy gift deductible status.

The disposition of these funds by way of grants, etc. is limited to those organisations that have established their own gift deductible status, and have been publicly invited to apply for grants from the Foundation.

The Sisters of Charity Ministry Fund

The Ministry Fund is being used to provide funds to organisations, and for activities, which have not obtained, or are unable to obtain, gift deductible status. from the Congregation or other tax exempt bodies.
