Program summary

The Asia Pacific Economic Cooperation (APEC) Education Foundation awards grants to member countries in the following three broad areas - Educational co-operation; Research and scholarship; Community building.

Educational Cooperation
Initiatives that advance cooperation and exchange of experiences and know-how among educational institutions in APEC economies on areas such as teacher professional development, distance learning and educational management training

Research and Scholarship
Joint research and the preparation of reports that promote the advancement of education among the highly diverse APEC economies.

Community Building
Educational exchanges and other activities that enhance education throughout the APEC region

Who can apply?

Applicants must be institutions or other non-profit organizations actively engaged in education or human resources development activities in an APEC member economy. Consortia among these entities are encouraged.

Australia is an APEC member.

What will be funded?
Proposals must be consistent with the mission and goals of the Foundation, and conform to the priorities set by the Board.
Current priorities
priority is given to projects meeting the following criteria
  • Address issues of regional concern and importance as established by APEC Leaders or Ministers
  • Make a significant or unique contribution in relation to other work being done in the field
  • Produce measurable and sustainable outcomes
    Include arrangements for matching in kind or by funding
  • Encourage collaboration among economic enterprises and educational institutions
  • Encourage multilateral cooperation across the region
